Training Superintendent – Underground Mining

Internal / External Vacancy

CTC has a permanent position available in the Mining & Mineral Processing Department and invites suitably qualified individuals to apply.

Minimum Requirements

  • Qualified Underground Coal Mine Overseer
  • Accredited Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator
  • OD-ETDP Level 4 Qualification
  • Management Certificate (Compulsory)
  • Mining Engineering Diploma/Degree (Recommended)
  • Minimum 5 years’ production experience as a Mine Overseer in an Underground Coal Operation
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing or supervising training
  • Experience in Learning Material and Assessment Development
  • Experience working with SETA and QCTO compliance processes
  • Demonstrated coaching and mentoring experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational delivery of Underground Coal Mining training programmes
  • Manage quality assurance, assessment, moderation and compliance processes
  • Ensure training delivery aligns with accredited curricula and QCTO, SETA and DMPR standards
  • Supervise Training Officers and Underground Operators
  • Coordinate Board Preparations, Internal Summative Assessments and External Integrated Summative Assessments (EISA)
  • Conduct internal audits and maintain audit readiness
  • Ensure training activities comply with host Mine standards and maintain effective liaison with Mine personnel
  • Maintain the validity of operator permits, blasting permits and Training Officer inductions
  • Monitor learner attendance, documentation, portfolios of evidence and compliance records
  • Support budget tracking, procurement alignment and departmental cost control
  • Represent the Training Centre in internal and external forums when delegated

  • Qualified Blaster
  • Accredited Facilitator, Assessor and Moderator
  • OD-ETDP Level 4 Qualification
  • Management Certificate (Compulsory)
  • Mining Engineering Diploma/Degree (Recommended)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Blasting Foreman or Production Foreman
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience managing or supervising a training department
  • Experience in Learning Material and Assessment Development
  • Experience working with SETA and QCTO compliance processes

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operational delivery of Surface Mining training programmes
  • Manage quality assurance, assessment, moderation and compliance processes
  • Ensure training delivery aligns with accredited curricula, occupational standards and regulatory requirements
  • Coordinate Board Examinations, Internal Summative Assessments and External Integrated Summative Assessments (EISA)
  • Conduct internal audits and maintain audit readiness
  • Supervise and support Training Officers to ensure high instructional standards
  • Implement performance management processes and provide structured feedback
  • Monitor learner attendance, documentation, portfolios of evidence and compliance records
  • Ensure training resources are functional and compliant with CTC and Mine standards
  • Support budget tracking, procurement alignment and departmental cost control
  • Represent the Training Centre in internal and external forums when delegated
